Now that the dust has settled from the work of the Texas Legislature, we are excited to inform you of a valiant effort that both the House and Senate have taken under their wings.

The bipartisan event is spearheaded by Austin businessman and philanthropist Steve Hicks, with the goal of raising funds to build a permanent home for the Rise School of Austin, which educates typical students alongside those with developmental disabilities.  It will also raise funds for the Rise Schools in Houston, Dallas, and Corpus Christi.

From March 6 - March 20 of 2010, the Rise Across Texas Challenge will wander through the most picturesque landscapes of Texas, ranging from the Sabine River east of Orange to the Rio Grande in Presidio.
